Academic
Calendar The
general framework of the academic calendar shall be approved by the
University administrative Council and the details prepared by the
University Registrar subject to approval of the President.
The
Academic year is divided into two (2) semesters of least 18 weeks
each, inclusive of midterm and final examinations. Each semester
shall consist of at least ninety (90) class days. Class work in the
Summer session shall be equivalent to class work in one semester. The
first semester begins in June, the second semester in November, and
the summers session in April. All academic units of Visayas State
University system operate under the semestral system, except for the
Extramural program which is under the Annual system. Admission
Requirements Admission
into the bachelor's degree of this university is covered by the
following guidelines.

Graduates of
the Department of Education-recognized high school may be
admitted as freshman into the university.

Applicants who
are holder of the Philippine Educational Placement Test (PEPT)
certificate in lieu of the high school diploma may be admitted
to the university.

Applicants who
graduated high school abroad ad who have not enrolled in college
may be admitted as freshmen provided they meet the following
requirements:

Completion of
the high school program in the country where they had their
education.

Passing a
college-qualifying national or international foreign
administered examination such as the General Certificate
Examination (GCE) or the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or
equivalent examinations.
A Filipino who graduated
from a secondary school abroad and applies for freshman admission
must satisfy same requirements as those for foreign students.

The
college reserves the right not to accept any applicant whose
qualifications do not meet the standards and requirements of the
program in which he wants to pursue.
New
freshman students are high school graduates enrolling in college for
the first time.
Upon
enrollment a new student must submit his high school report card
(Form 138), certificate of good moral character,
original copy of birth certificate issued by the National Statistics
Office (NSO), and four (4) copies,
1x1 ID picture colored with white background.
Students
who have earned college units from other schools as well as former
college students returning to LSU after having been enrolled in
other institutions are considered transfer students.
An applicant for transfer must
submit the following requirements:
- Duly accomplished application
forms for admission.
- Transfer Credential / Honorable
Dismissal.
- Copy of all previous grades/
Transcript of Records certified by the School Registrar (GPA at
least 2.5).
- Certificate of Good Moral
Character.
- Original copy of Birth
Certificate issued by the National Statistics Office (NSO)
- Four (4) copies, 1 x 1 ID
picture, colored with white background.
Students
who previously enrolled in the College and come back to study after
having stopped without enrolling elsewhere belong to this category.
Continuing students
who have not maintained satisfactory performance and are therefore
considered not in good academic standing shall be subjected to the
provisions on scholastic delinquency as specified in the university
code.
Foreign
students applying for admission shall submit the following
documents:

Three (3) official copies of
transcript of Records/ Scholastic Records, one (1) original copy
and two (2) photocopies authenticated by the Philippine Embassy/
Consulate in the applicant's country of origin or legal
residence. Official copies bear the original signature and the
embossed/stamped seal of the issuing educational institution.
The certification on the photocopies must be in original inked
signature and seal.

Five (5) original copies of
Personal History Statement (PHS) duly accomplished and signed by
the applicant accompanied by original left and right hand
prints. Each copy provided with 2 x 2 original latest photograph.
PHS form may be obtained from the Philippine Embassy/Consulate
in the applicants' country of origin.

Three (3) copies of affidavit
of support and proof of adequate financial support duly
notarized executed by your financial sponsor to cover expenses
for student's accommodation and subsistence, school dues and
other incidental expenses.

Three (3) photocopies of
passport pages where name, photo, birth date and birthplace
appear.

Original copy of birth
certificate

Certificate of Good Moral
Character from the two (2) officials, one from the teacher and
one from the Principal or School Head of the institution where
the applicant has last attended. (For undergraduate applicants
only).
Special
students are those who are not entitled to receive official credit
for the academic work they undertake because they do not satisfy the
requirements for admission to the academic program or subject, or
for any other reason.
- Special students may be admitted
to any of the course they wish to attend provided that:
- They get the approval of the
Department Head for each of the courses they propose to
participate in;
- They execute the contract in
which they waive the right to receive and to demand credit
for the work done; and
- They pay in full all the
fees upon enrolment.
- Special students are not
eligible for any honors or privileges
An
individual with the appropriate degree or its equivalent is eligible
for admission to graduate studies leading to a master's or doctoral
degree. Prospective graduate students shall submit their application
for admission and other requirements to the Dean of the Graduate
School within a reasonable period before the opening of each term.
